INFORMATION

"It is written on the walls"
2018
Words on paper

We are glad to announce Ivana Rohr as current Artist in Residence with the project "It is written on the walls". Ivana has based her work at the intersection between literature, art and technology to set up interactive installations and immersive text experiences. Her practice also includes performances. For her residency, Ivana got inspired by the neighbourhood walls, that are indeed mostly covered by graffiti and street writing. The multi ethnicity of the district is present on these walls, that have in fact many different languages and purposes on them. Curious of deepening the meaning of all those graffiti and committed to experimental literature waves such as Concrete, Futuristic and Visual Poetry, Rohr decided to stroll around with the intention of mapping Victoria’s wall writing. About 200 photos were taken and with all the found footage she gave shape to an archive of “urban poetry” that she deconstructed and reconstructed into an open poem & manifesto of Victoria.

Rohr’s project aims at staying open and interactive: her goal is also to get the participants involved and stimulate them to re-discover the neighbourhood under a different perspective. In fact, 12 postcards with fragments of the poem & a street name invite the audience to stroll around Victoria themselves and discover it by finding the fragments on the walls and by re-posting it on Instagram using the hashtags #victoriasays #itiswrittenonthewalls
